September 10th, 2010 West Windsor at the Ronald R. Rodgers Arboretum on Route 571 and Clarksville roads an 8,000 lbs piece of steel from the World Trade Center was presented to the township and was dedicated in a ceremony at the Arboretum.  During the ceremony, West Windsor Councilman and former Jersey City firefighter George Borek recalled some of his feelings about the day of, and the days following, the attacks. It was Borek’s efforts that secured the four-ton piece of almost “sacred metal” for the township, to rest forever at the arboretum’s reflecting pools.

At the conclusion of the ceremonies, West Windsor police officers Frank Bal and Anthony Magistro played a moving rendition of “Amazing Grace” on the bag pipes. Council Member George Borek was instrumental in getting this piece of steel for West Windsor Township.
