2012 top ten responders

The Fire Company is pleased to announce, and recognize, the following members for their dedication in responding to incidents during 2012.  These individuals represent the responders with the ten highest attendance at calls during the calendar year.  The Fire Company responded to 505 incidents during 2012, which is 25 less calls than 2011.  The members, their assignment, and their number of responses are as follows:

Passing of Larry Schafer

Henry L. Schafer, Jr. (Larry) 77, of Princeton Junction passed away peacefully on January 1, 2013, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He resided at Sunrise of Lower Makefield in Yardley, PA for the past 4 years. Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong Princeton Junction resident. Larry honorably served in the United States Army. He was very active in the community and was a member of the Elks and Masons Lodge in Princeton and the Central NJ Antique Car Club. Larry was also a dedicated Volunteer Fireman for the Princeton Junction Fire Company # 1. Larry and his late wife Joan were the owners of Schafer's Service Station in Princeton Junction for many years. His easy going attitude and friendly personality made it easy for him to make friends wherever he went. He was passionate about antique cars, spending time with friends and especially fond of spending summers at his camper and on his boat on the Barnegat Bay. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan and his parents Henry and Mary Schafer, He will be sadly missed by his nephew Donald Schafer, Jr. and his wife Nancy and their children DJ, Alexandra and Emily, Niece Kimberly Jago and her husband David and their children Sophie and Emma and his brother Donald Schafer, Sr. 

The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton. Burial will follow in the Dutch Neck Church Cemetery, Princeton Junction. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Somerset Handicap Children's Treatment Center 377 Union Avenue, Bridgewater, NJ 08807

Sandy Hook

The officers and members of Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company No.1 would like to express our heartfelt sorrow to the families and loved ones who have experienced unfathomable loss and sadness in recent days due to the tragic events that occurred in Sandy Hook, CT.

Congratulations to the 2012 Fall Firefighter I class

Dec 21st 2012, Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1 is proud to welcome three new graduates of the 2012 NJ Firefighter I class into the ranks.  All three graduated from the 180 + hours of instruction and join the dedicated membership in protecting the town of West Windsor.  Brian Foley, Michael Foley and Nate Jones have shown a dedication to both the Princeton Junction Fire Company and the residents of West Windsor - many congratulations to all of them!
